Review: The Lounge Panama (Global Lounge Network) Panama City Airport

Entrance The Lounge Panama by Global Lounge Network

Global Lounge Network is a company that designs, finances, develops, operates and markets airport lounges throughout the world. They have locations at many international locations including Vancouver, Medellin, Florianopolis, Cancun, Mexico City, Panama City, San Juan, Istanbul, Bangkok. There is one location in the United States, Miami.

Global Lounge Network partners with various lounge access programs such as Priority Pass, Lounge Key or Lounge Club to allow access for those members.

Of the three Priority Pass lounges at the Panama City Tocumen International Airport (PTY), The Lounge Panama by Global Lounge Network is certainly the best. It was not as large as the Copa Club, but offered better décor, superior food, and was less crowded. We didn’t have a chance to review the third lounge, Tocumen Royal Saloon, but from the online photos, it wasn’t as nice as The Lounge.

The Lounge Panama Location & Hours

After security walk towards gates 101-115. The lounge is located just across from the “Panama Store”, which is just before you get to the actual gates 101-115. It’s a 1-2-minute walk from the Copa Club.

The Lounge Panama is open 24 hours a day, every day. Which is another reason to choose this lounge over the Copa Club, as the Copa Club is only open from 5:45am to 9:45pm daily

Access to Global Lounge Network Lounges

Access to Global Lounge Network Lounges is for members who have access through

•      Priority Pass, Lounge Key, Lounge Club or Diners Club
•     Purchase a same day pass (when available) for ~$30

Check In The Lounge Panama

After Jess and I had escaped the chaos of the nearby Copa Lounge, we entered The Lounge Panama and immediately knew we made the right decision.

While the entrance consisted of a sort of makeshift wall with a desk, it was much nicer, modern and featured cool backlighting. Oh and there was no line.

Definitely an upgrade over the crowded Copa Club.

Immediately when you walk past the entrance, there is a set of stairs on the right side.

The lounge consists of two main areas. A smaller downstairs area and a larger upstairs area (the main lounge area). The downstairs area had enough seating for about 15-20 people with a limited selection of snacks (crackers, cheese and prepackaged pastries), and nonalcoholic beverages.

The main lounge area upstairs had seating for about 80-100 pepole and there were a variety of seating options to choose from including dining tables, lounge chairs, high top seating and even several sleep pods! The lounge was fairly crowded (but still not as bad as the Copa Lounge), so I wasn’t able to get many photos.

There was even a kids play area.

Food & Beverage The Lounge Panama

The food and drink selection at The Lounge Panama was better than at the Copa Club. There were the usual small snacks, but additionally there was one hot dish of stir fry chicken with a selection of toppings. While not amazing by any means, it was better than just the cheese and cracker selection at the Copa Club.

There was a self-serve drink area on the top floor that offered some decent choices. It would have been nice to see something better than Absolut for vodka however.

Showers & Restrooms

There were showers upstairs, however they were all taken, so I wasn’t able to get a photo.

Overall Impression

Of the three Priority Pass lounges at the Panama City Tocumen International Airport (PTY), The Lounge Panama by Global Lounge Network is certainly the best. It was not as large as the Copa Club, but offered better décor, superior food, and was less crowded. If you have access, I would recommend making this your first stopping point for your layover in Panama City.
